Lincoln Country Summer Festival

Under the auspicies of the Spencer County Historical Society, the Business Men’s Civic Association, and the Southwestern Indiana Civic Association, "Lincoln Country Summer Festival is to be held at Rockport, beginning June 28, and will continue through July 4.

The City Park will be in readiness for camping. A special program and entertainment is to be planned for each day, and will be announced later in detail.

On Sunday afternoon June 28, the Festival opens with services in the Baptist church building in the Lincoln Pioneer Village, which is a replica of the "Old Pigeon Baptist church", where the Lincoln’s attended. This building including the Daniel Grass home, and the Lincoln cabin, replicas of the originals, have been built during the winter months. Due appreciation of the homes of the pioneers can be best evaluated by seeing these replicas of our forefathers and as an instructive agency for the youth. It is invaluable.

A parade is to be on the Fourth of July, starting on Second street, proceeding down Main street to the entrance of the City Park. Twelve counties are to furnish floats. Those sponsoring this celebration, are planning for the biggest ever held in our community.
