May 11, 2002 This is Rockport's first tavern where many distinguished guests were entertained during the early 1800's. Abraham Lincoln gave a speech at Brown's Tavern in October, 1844. He was campaigning for Henry Clay, Whig presidental candidate. The tavern's original site was at the east end of Main Street. Front View
